Christchurch Electrical has had a long association with Christchurch Boys’ High School through the delivery of quality electrical products and services for a number of years. More recently they have been involved as lead electricians during the rebuild phase of the Caddick and Caldwell Blocks on the Straven Road campus. They quickly established themselves through their excellent communication skills and good relationships with staff and the wider community. 

Maarten Vijfhuizen who has primarily been the supervisor working closely with the school has been a pleasure to deal with. He has worked professionally for the school to provide a safe environment for our students to learn while having large numbers of contractors on site.

Maarten has gone above and beyond when it comes to Christchurch Boys’ High School. 

More recently we have embarked on the full restoration of the historic Main Building at Christchurch Boys’ High School which starts in April 2021. Christchurch Electrical have been engaged as a consultant to carry out work in preparation for this. As with any live environment involving students and staff, access is a challenge. I have been impressed with the way Christchurch Electrical have worked with the school to achieve this task. Maarten’s experience and attention to detail ensured that the heritage values of the buildings were not overlooked while meeting all project objectives.

Christchurch Electrical have also been involved in a number of school related projects outside of the Canterbury Schools’ Rebuild. With all of these projects, they listened to our design parameters, understood the cultural importance to the local iwi and whanau members, and showed genuine leadership in creating a solution to meet the needs of all involved.

Maarten and Rex Prebble, (Managing Director) would be some of the best contractors that I have had the pleasure of working with during my time at Christchurch Boys’ High School. They are highly organised, professional and always achieve the best results for the client. 

I would be confident in stating that all staff who have had the pleasure of working with the team from Christchurch Electrical at this school respect them for their integrity and genuine desire to get the best possible outcome, while fostering a positive and cohesive work environment for all.
